Last week, I returned to CNBC “Closing Bell” amid earnings season to discuss what’s going on in the market, and some things to keep an eye on in the months ahead. Second quarter earnings for the S&P 500 were expected to be up by 7.3 percent, but we’re keeping a close watch specifically on retail names.
The consumer somewhere must be doing well as companies continue to beat expectations. But this begs the question: Where are higher spending females buying clothes? It’s unclear as a number of luxury retailers report soft sales, so this may be what pulls down that earnings average.
