Charlie Smith – Principal and Chief Investment Officer
“We tell our clients, ‘You pay us fees because we do this better than you can do it – and, unlike the big investment firms, we’re accountable.”
Charlie Smith doesn’t need to see the entire big picture to understand what the picture is trying to say.
“The investment market is like a giant
mosaic,” he says. I don’t have to
see the whole thing. You can see patterns and
connect those patterns.”
That approach obviously has worked for Fort
Pitt Capital Group, as its investments have
performed well since he co-founded the firm
in 1995. Charlie provides the economic overview
for the firm, while also managing client portfolios
of individual securities.
His views on economic and market information
are respected and regularly sought out by Money,
Barron’s, The Wall Street Journal and
other financial media. He has written and lectured
on similar topics over the course of his career,
which began in 1983 and has included leadership
roles with a number of regional investment firms.
Charlie is a graduate of Penn State University
and lives in Marshall Township, PA, with his wife,
Barbara, and their three children.
