Bah Humbug: Tips to stay safe when holiday shopping online

This month’s cybersecurity post, courtesy of the SANS Institute, deals with a very timely issue – shopping online securely. As we approach the holiday season and the internet’s biggest shopping day of the year, Cyber Monday, it’s important that consumers take extra care when purchasing gifts online.

To properly protect yourself when using the internet to complete your holiday shopping checklist, you should:

  1. Be on the lookout for fake online stores and recognize the signs
  2. Make sure your computer and mobile device are secure with certain steps
  3. Review your credit card statements regularly and take extra measures to be protected
