Aiming Together Clay Shoot Event Supporting Junior Achievement

Fort Pitt Capital Group financial advisor, Katharine Perry, sits on the Young Professionals Board for Junior Achievement Western PA and serves as the Vice Chair. Inspired by her interest in clay shooting, Katharine started an annual fundraising event in 2018 for women just like her. It is a safe and unintimidating opportunity for women who were interested in sporting clays called “Ladies Aim for Achievement.” Given our current environment, the committee decided to rework the idea for 2020.

This year, the third annual Ladies Aim for Achievement Sporting Clay Shoot will be rebranded to reflect the solidarity that we all must have at this time. “Aiming Together,” the 2020 clay shoot, is welcoming ladies AND Gentlemen with appropriate COVID 19 precautions, which are outlined below. Katharine explains, “In the end, it’s all for the kids. We’re going to mix in some boys vs. girls fun, but we’re all here for one mission- helping the next generation develop the skills and give them the tools they need to enter the world.”

Junior Achievement is a global non-profit organization that was founded in the early 1900s to teach youth (k-12th grade) entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and workforce readiness, among other goals. There are many “branches,” including one right here in Western PA. Katharine has been involved in JA for over 5 years and continues to feel strongly about their mission.

The source for Katharine’s support of Junior Achievement comes from her own experiences. “Being in the finance field, I see firsthand the effects of folks being ill-prepared to enter the world. I feel that it is so important to teach the youth fundamentals to help them be successful throughout their entire lives. It is so rewarding for me to be involved in this mission.”

Additionally, Katharine explains, “JA is missing out on critical fundraisers due to canceling of major spring events. Aiming Together is our last fundraising push for the 2020-21 school year. What we are doing is very important to children’s development and compliments their normal curriculum, both in-person and virtual. But we need independent fundraising as we’re not funded by the schools that we serve.” You too can help. Click here to sign up for Aiming Together.
