FOCUS

Ian specializes in advising business owners, real estate investors, and real estate professionals. He has expertise in complex tax planning and estate planning for individuals with interests in private corporations, partnerships, and rental real estate. Informed by his years of diverse tax experience prior to joining Fort Pitt, Ian believes that no financial plan is complete without a comprehensive strategy to mitigate and avoid taxation.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

Ian transitioned to the investment advisory industry from legal practice. He has previously represented large corporate clients in commercial litigation at a law firm in Pittsburgh and has represented the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue in tax litigation at the Office of Attorney General in Harrisburg. Prior to joining Fort Pitt, Ian managed the tax practice and served as a wealth advisor at the Miramar Beach, Florida, office of Mariner Wealth Advisors, a national registered investment advisory firm.

Ian lives in downtown Pittsburgh with his two golden retrievers, Finley and Milo. He has an academic orientation and enjoys being a lifelong learner. He is particularly interested in economics, social history, architecture, urbanism, and industrial design.
